Journalism is an incredibly interesting and rewarding field, but it can also be incredibly difficult. There is no formula for starting out as a journalist, nor for improving one’s skills–both technical and intuitive. But there are some fundamental pieces that can be borrowed, passed on, and shared.
A key part of success as a journalist is mentoring from someone with more experience, connections, and context.
Information Breakdown is a place for journalists who are new and emerging, or experienced and talented but isolated from contact with professional colleagues. It is also a landing place for journalists looking for mentoring, even if it is only through the virtual space of a blog.
